Latin Name:
Cimex lectularious
Appearance:
Adult is about 3/16-inch long. Reddish- to dark-brown, flat and oval-shaped, but
becomes longer and plumper after feeding.
Habit:
Hides in cracks and crevices during the day. Lives in mattresses, coils of springs,
cracks and hollow posts of beds and upholstery.
Diet:
Most species prefer a human host.
Reproduction:
Females lay about two eggs per day, until approximately 200 have been laid. Hatch
in 6 to 17 days.
Other:
Very hardy. Adults can live a year or longer without feeding.
